The Killers’ frontman, Brandon Flowers called it “American boys doing American Girl at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.”

The band paid tribute to the late, great Tom Petty at the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony by playing an electrifying version of Petty’s “American Girl”. Halfway through you’ll notice that the long tables of audience members are all seated, that is until Flowers shouts “pay some rock n’roll respect to the impenetrable, to the masterful, to the eternal Tom Petty” and the entire crowd jumps to their feet! The band finishes off the tribute by segueing into Petty’s 1989 hit “Free Fallin'”.

The quality of this video is brutal, but you can hear the entire performance of “American Girl” and watch as The Killers swing into a Petty classic, “Free Fallin'”
