It’s been 19 months since you could hear Prince’s music on any streaming service other than TIDAL… but that’s about to change!

Prince’s estate has reached an agreement to return The Purple One’s entire library of songs to Spotify, Google Play, Apple, Deezer, Pandora and others and the rumour is that the switch will get turned on February 12th, which also happens to be the same day as the 59th Grammy Awards.

While this hasn’t been 100% confirmed, a look at the latest Spotify ad campaign in New York City kind of gives it away… why else would they be posting plain purple ads everywhere?

And here’s another:

Prince originally removed his music from all streaming services except TIDAL five months before his sudden and untimely death on April 21, 2016. Ever since, his estate and the other big music streaming companies have been working on a way to get one of the globe’s most acclaimed musicians into “the cloud”. Prince preferred TIDAL (and had never allowed his music on Apple) but since he died without a will his assets are in the control of his estate and they have decided to give the people what they want… PRINCE EVERYWHERE!

It’s worth mentioning that this deal will only cover Prince’s previously released recordings… which means we still have to wait for all the unreleased Prince songs hidden away in his archives.

It also doesn’t appear that the night of the Grammy’s was chosen randomly… insiders say that a Prince Tribute is being planned for the show and could feature Bruno Mars, The Weeknd and Rihanna.

Until February 12 arrives those of us without TIDAL will have to continue binging on Prince concert videos on YouTube… like this one!
