Pac Man is coming back to life. It’s been announced that a live action movie starring the giant yellow head chasing ghosts and eating Power Pellets is coming to the big screen sometime in the not so distant future.

Jane The Virgin star Justin Baldoni is turning the video game star into a live action star with the help of Pac Man publisher, Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios.

While we don’t have any plot leaks or hints, Sonic The Hedgehog writer Chuck Williams has penned the original script so we can look to that for possible direction of the movie.

This isn’t the first time Pac Man has come to life. In 2015, he was the star of the Adam Sandler movie Pixels chasing 4 Mini Coopers (ghost colours of course) in an effort to dostroy the world. Let’s hope he’s a good guy in this upcoming movie.

Toru Iwatani, the inventor of the Pac Man character first introduced Pac Man back in 1980, since then, Pac-Man has become one of the best-selling and highest-grossing video game franchises of all-time selling nearly 48 million copies across all platforms and has grossed over $14 billion.

This won’t be the first video game turned into a live action movie or series. in 1989 a live action Super Mario Bros. his small screens everywhere with the Super Mario Bros Super Show.

in 1994, Double Dragon saw a live action remake

in 1995, movie audiences were yelling “FINISH HIM!” in theatres as a live action version of Mortal Kombat was released

and most recently Sonic The Hedgehog has seen two films with a third rumoured to be on the way

of course there are honourable mentions like Lara Croft, Resident Evil, Need For Speed Tekken, plus upcoming films like Minecraft, Mortal Kombat 2, and even a Just Dance movie (??????)
