With Italian Day just around the corner, we thought we should whip up a quick JACK playlist to get you eccitato for one of our favourite days of the year. So get ready to carb load with our 9 favourite Italian songs and see you Sunday!

Dean Martin – “Mambo Italiano”

Born Dino Paul Crocetti, Dean Martin has a couple albums full of songs that you could use to get in the mood for Italian Day. But this one is a favouite.

Luciano Pavarotti & James Brown – It’s a Man’s World

You can’t go wrong with any of the Three Tenors, but how about the Godfather of Opera performing with the Godfather of Soul?!? This video gives us chills every time. Also, never forget when Pavarotti teamed up with George Michael.

Giorgio Moroder – Night Drive

Sound like Blondie’s “Call Me”? That’s because it pretty much is the same song, just without lyrics. The Italian super producer wrote the song for the American Gigolo soundtrack and Blondie added lyrics to their version. Both songs appear on the soundtrack.

Renato Carosone – Tu Vuò Fa’ L’Americano

This classic is another song you might have heard before in a slightly different incarnation, especially if you have kids. A modernized version stormed the charts back in 2012.

Baltimora – “Tarzan Boy”

Baltimora was an Italian disco sensation that graced us with one of our favourite one-hit wonders from the ’80s. Try not to sing along. And look at THOSE PANTS!

Ed Sheeran & Andrea Bocelli – “Perfect Symphony”

Two colossal talents equal one beautiful song. We’re not crying, YOU’RE CRYING!

Umberto Tozzi – “Gloria”

Laura Branigan might have recorded the version that JACK knows and loves, but did you know “Gloria” was originally an Italian hit for Umberto Tozzi? Check it out!

Sister Cristina – “Like A Virgin”

This actual nun won the Italian version of The Voice in 2014 and her slowed-down cover of Madonna’s “Like A Virgin” is beautiful. Bravo Sister!

Freddie Mercury – “Exercises in Free Love”

Now we know Freddie wasn’t Italian but he did possess one of the greatest voices in Rock & Roll history. His voice was so powerful that he easily could have been an opera star. Need some audio proof? Listen to this.

Honourable Mention: “Tarantella Napolitana”, “Lasagna” by Weird Al, “Papa Don’t Preach” by Madonna
