Looks like Squamish, B.C. has always had its fair share of killer concerts!

It was August 1969 and a pile of rock artist landed in Paradise Valley, playing for a crowd of 15 thousand!

Fresh off the scene at the iconic Woodstock Festival, a bunch of major artists headed to British Columbia for the Vancouver Pop Festival (which was held August 22-24 at the then Paradise Valley Resort, now known as the Cheakamus Centre).

As you can see from this poster, the likes of The Guess Who, Alice Cooper, Grateful Dead, Little Richard, Canned Heat, Chicago, and more took the stage!

Recently posted on the Squamish Historical Society’s Facebook Page, many people recalled great memories from this festival like a bunch of bikers knocking the fence down and everyone storming the grounds, essentially making it a free-for-all!

How cool would it have been to attend this festival?! And if you happened to be there, let us know! We want stories!
