Remember trying to draw with the classic childhood ‘Etch A Sketch’? It was so hard!

The makers of the toy ‘Hatchimals’ are giving the doodling tool a modern update!

On the classic red and white framed toy, you would turn the nobs to create a sketch and when you were finished you could shake to erase and repeat.

The toy has been providing kids with doodling fun for decades (since the 1950s to be precise). Last year Spin Master, the company behind the craze ‘Hatchimals’, bought ‘Etch A Sketch’ and has plans to give this childhood staple a revamp.

Here’s what the new ‘Etch A Sketch’ will look like:

This version will use an LCD screen and come with a pen for sketching to avoid the rigidity provided by the original turning nobs. You can also get a variety of different frames outside of the red and white; they come in different colours, have handles for easy carrying and some have a ‘slide to erase’ function versus the shake feature.

And for all of those individuals who are a fan of the traditional ‘Etch A Sketch’, don’t fret! Spin Master still makes those ones too! The upgraded ‘Etch A Sketch’ will be available for purchase, Fall 2017.
