This month Winnie-The-Pooh turned 90 years old!!

This means, most of us probably grew up loving (or at least knowing) the friendly bear who lived at Pooh Corner.

Winnie the Pooh was first published in 1926, and was actually inspired by a female Canadian black bear named Winnie who eventually made her way over to a zoo in London, England during the war. This is where author, A. A. Milne first met the bear, and eventually introduced her to his son Christopher Robin.

Here’s Christopher feeding the real Winnie at the zoo:

The characters, as many of us know them, were appropriated by Disney in the mid 60s.

Ellen Degeneres jokingly introduces a new special, stating, “it seems like just yesterday, he was a teenage bear with a sugar addiction and no pants!”

Take a look!

Happy 90th, Pooh Bear!
