Millions of copies have been sold around the world, and allowed the artist a Grammy for ‘Best Pop Album’ among others and a nomination for ‘Album of the Year’.

Songs that still resonate with people off this album include: ‘Rehab’, ‘Back to Black’, ‘Tears Dry on Their Own’, ‘You Know I’m No Good’ and ‘Love is a Losing Game’.

Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry on Their Own

Her songs, although very deeply emotional at the time of this album release, have taken on new meaning after her passing of a suspected overdose in 2011. In particular, ‘Rehab’, in which she sings about refusing treatment and help. Those lyrics resound, almost hauntingly, each time the song plays.

Apart from being a talented lyricist, Amy Winehouse managed to combine and easily pass between genres like soul, rhythm & blues, and jazz and she had a very distinct quality to her voice.

All this to say, it has been ten years since the release of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ album, but it will likely be an album we continue to be drawn to for quite some time.
