The “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour came through Vancouver as Sir Elton John said his goodbye’s to fans in the Lower Mainland.

Elton made his Vancouver debut April 23rd, 1971 at the PNE Agrodome and since then has played Vancouver 15 times over his illustrious career, including a stop in January of 2001 with Billy Joel. So it was a bittersweet celebration at Rogers Arena September 21st, 22nd & 24th as many fans checked off their bucket list by seeing Elton one last time.

The JACK Roadies got the celebration started early out on the plaza. We’ve been waiting for you to tell us how impressive we looked at Elton John at Rogers Arena during his “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour stops, but we’re tired of waiting so we’re going to toot our own horn.

We brought our own Elton John with us, glammed up in the famous 1975 Dodger Stadium uniform and posing for photos. Maybe it’s just us, but it seemed like once we started, the crowd was so excited for Elton John they couldn’t move fast enough getting away from us to get inside the arena. Most people we’re so excited they didn’t even stop to say hi to us, one couple even yelled at their kids to not stop and get inside and get away from the “sophomoric” radio guys.

Needless to say, we took the time to meet all our fans.

If these were Elton’s last shows in Vancouver, then it was a great farewell. We sang, we cried, we stepped in beer, then we got off the bus at the arena and had a blast inside with Elton and all the hits!
