Like it or not, Boston is a city of champions. The New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and … Aerosmith?!?

You can feel pretty good adding Aerosmith to this list. Let’s face it, Steven Tyler was born to be a rock star. Could you imagine if he went a different path and showed up at your house as a plumber?

Good thing he chose rock because he’s pretty good at it! Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million records worldwide. With 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, they hold the record for the most total certifications by an American band and are tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American band. But where did the career of Aerosmith begin?

Before releasing hits like “Crazy”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Love In An Elevator”, “Walk This Way”, “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” and so many more classics, they were a little up and coming band in Boston just looking for a break.

Thanks to one band members mom, they got their start.

The First Aerosmith Show Ever!

November marks the anniversary of the first Aerosmith concert ever! On November 6th, 1970, Aerosmith played their first ever show at Nipmuc Regional High School (now known as Miscoe Hill School) in Mendon, MA. Even on day one, they looked cool!

JACK FACT: Aerosmith got the gig thanks to Joe Perry‘s mother, who worked at a nearby school, knew someone at Nipmuc and helped set it up. The show only cost $1. Does that make her the band’s first manager!?

We’re thinking we’ll have to make the trek to Las Vegas next year to check out their residency at MGM’s Park Theatre.
