In the most Canadian moment at the 2018 winter Olympics, Canada’s sweethearts Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir pay tribute to The Tragically’s Hip Gord Downie by skating to “Long Time Running”.

The gold medal duo chose to honour Gord Downie who passed in October 2017 after a battle with brain cancer, with Moir saying “When I think about Gord and I think about the Hip and what they’ve been able to do…it’s kind of the soundtrack to being Canadian almost.”

Also timely to skate to “Long Time Running” as a personal nod to the pair’s final Olympic skate together. Virtue and Moir have been skating together for over 20 years, and closed out the 2018 Olympic ceremony with this beautiful moment – take a look:

You can watch the entire skate here.

And! If you haven’t had your fill, Virtue and Scott (among other Olympic skaters) will be skating at Stars On Ice this spring in Vancouver!
