The 2017 Polaris Music Prize short list has been announced, and includes 10 Canadian albums with the likes of Leonard Cohen’s “You Want It Darker” and Gord Downie’s “Secret Path”.

The list of contenders is selected by a panel of journalists, bloggers, and broadcasters, and selection is based on artistic merit and not on album sales or genre. The Polaris Music Prize will award $50,000 to the artist who creates the Canadian Album of the Year.

The Polaris Music Prize  winner will be chosen on September 18th, at a ceremony in Toronto.
