With Christmas only a week away, ’tis the season to watch Christmas specials on YouTube! And while you can watch a ton of favorites on Netflix (National Lampoon’s!!!), there are a few more obscure Holiday specials that won’t be getting replayed on cable or your favorite streaming service this year. But have no fear, Christmas isn’t ruined. Thanks to the magic of YouTube, some of the wackiest, weirdest and downright awesome Christmas specials from your childhood can be relived in all their corny glory on YouTube.

So if you’ve already watched Clark Griswold 100 times this Christmas, why not plug in to YouTube and revisit these?

The Star Wars Holiday Special

Everyone’s talking about Rogue One but this is the Star Wars Christmas you’re looking for. Originally released in 1978, this cheesy special tells the story of Han Solo and Chewbacca heading to Chewie’s homeworld to spend the holidays with his Wookie family. True story.

It was so poorly received that it was never officially released for home consumption… and Star Wars will sell anything. It’s not all negative though. The special did introduce the world to Boba Fett, stars Bea Arthur (Golden Girls 4ever!) and features a cameo from everyone’s favourite cantina band, Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes.

He-Man & She-Ra – A Christmas Special

If you were a boy who grew up in the ’80s, you can probably recite the He-Man opening from memory. But did you remember that there was a Christmas special?

Not only is this a great blast to the past but it shows that even villains like Skeletor feel the Christmas spirit once a year. To quote Adam/He-Man: “Though we celebrate it and get presents, Christmas is about caring, sharing and goodwill and its spirit is within all of us”.

Pee-Wee’s Christmas Special

On a list that is incredibly wacky, this one might be the wackiest of the bunch. Pee-Wee’s Christmas Special was made for TV and didn’t just feature Pee-Wee with his usual cast of characters like Cowboy Curtis (Laurence Fishburne), Conky, Ricardo and Jambi, It was a variety show that had appearances from Magic Johnson, Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg and K.D.. lang (who sings “Jingle Bell Rock”).

You might want to have a couple glasses of egg nog before watching this one!
