Based on the ruling, made Thursday June 23rd, “Stairway to Heaven” is an original, and was not taken from the song “Taurus” by Spirit, as was claimed. The jury unanimously cleared the band in a Los Angeles federal courtroom. The decision had the potential to rewrite history, not to mention, could have cost Led Zeppelin 40 million dollars in damages.

Reportedly, experts from both sides discussed song composition and agreed that the songs shared a descending chord progression that has been used for centuries.

Take a listen; what do you think?
