Sunday afternoon my wife and I started to search for a new show to watch together. It’s the mid-season break on the Walking Dead and Celebrity Big Brother is reality TV, so we needed a light, funny show. We decided on “Everything Sucks.”

It’s a coming-of-age comedy based on high school students smack dab in the middle of the 1990s.

From the moment the show started, the memories started to flow! From the fashion to the music – it really reminded both of us of how awesome the ’90s were.

For myself the ’90s was definitely the decade where I found my footing in life. High school and the big push to college all happened for me in the ’90s. Here’s some of the killer trends from this decade that I kinda forgot about until watching this Netflix retro comedy.

1 . Nu Metal  – It was a music format that flamed out faster then a Ferrari on the Lions Gate Bridge. Bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, Stand and more! Nu Metal is the reason I have tattoos that I don’t really want any more.

2. Tamagotchi – This was my wife’s pick for the list. Do you remember these digital keychain pets?

3. The Discman – Yep, the CD player that skipped and drained batteries….. but it was portable.

4. VHS and Blockbuster – Was there anything better than the Friday evening trip to Blockbuster where you remained hopeful that the latest releases were still on the shelf? (This whole sentence means absolutely nothing to my daughter)

5. The Eagle Talon – Does anyone remember how cool that car was? My older sister had one.

6. The “Dude, You’re Getting A Dell!” Guy –  You could not watch TV without seeing that guy.

7. Pagers – I was that kid that had a pager and the only person that would page me was my mom.

8. The 8 Ball Jacket – I had one. We don’t talk about it.

9. Pro-Set Cards – The first set of hockey cards that didn’t come with old gum. These hockey cards were made for a new generation of collectors.

10. Dial up internet… just kidding! Not awesome and should not be on this list.

So now it’s your turn. What from the ’90s do you want to add to the list?

Tweet me and as always…. I love your face!
