David Bowie Doc Last Five Years Now Available on HBO

It’s been two years since the passing of icon David Bowie and HBO has marked the somber occasion with the US release of the BBC-produced David Bowie doc The Last Five Years.

The film, directed by Francis Whately, explores the creative process behind Bowie’s final two studio albums “The Next Day” and “Blackstar” (as well as his musical “Lazarus”) and uses hours of archival footage along with interviews with Bowie’s band-mates and collaborators. And while the documentary appears to have incredible access to Bowie (who was known to find the media invasive), the movie was actually researched and pieced together after his death.

While the documentary might have been a challenge to piece together, Bowie fans will be glad someone did. It features amazing insight into Bowie’s own mortality, his view of fame, growing old and reflecting on what can only be described as a crazy life. It’s a must-watch for any Bowie fan.

Make sure you check it out on HBO while it is available. Or you can sign in and watch it online here (if you are a cable subscriber to HBO).
