80 couples competed in the 28th annual Wife Carrying World Championships in Finland recently. The course is 253.5 metres long, complete with both water obstacles and dry obstacles. Some requirements must be met before entering, for instance, the ‘wife’ that you choose to carry must be at least 17 years of age, and weigh 122lbs. If the person being carried is not at the minimum weight level, additional weight must be carried. To be clear, you don’t have to be legally married to your race partner.
