It was on this day in 1978 that “Grease” hit the big screen and waltzed its way into the hearts of teeny boppers everywhere!

Seven years after the musical debuted on Broadway, the American musical rom-com opened in theatres, starring heart-throb John Travolta (Danny Zuko) and the bright and beautiful Olivia Newton-John (Sandra-Dee Olsson). The two portrayed a teenage couple in the 1950s dealing with the fallout of a summer fling, but get reunited at Rydell High to play out their young romance.

We loved Grease so much that it remained at the top grossing live-action musical for a long time! Today, it’s the fourth highest-grossing movie in this category, behind Les Misérables, Mamma Mia! and the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast.
