After a falling out with Paramount Studios, Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ has been picked up by the streaming giant, Netflix. It seems like Netflix will be taking their time with this one, as it is suggested to cost about $125 million dollars, and won’t be released until 2019.

The movie is based on the book “I Heard You Paint Houses” by Charles Brandt. It’s a narrative about a mafia hitman, Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran (Robert De Niro), who is known for his alleged involvement in the death of Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino). Joe Pesci will play a supporting role, as Russell Bufalino; he’s a crime lord who once ran the entire East Coast mob for the Cosa Nostra organization.

The massive budget is reportedly to go to some high-tech aspects of the film. For instance, Robert De Niro will be transformed to a version of himself that’s 30 years younger (think Benjamin Button).

Pre-production is underway, and filming should begin shortly! Get ready for all of the ‘Goodfellas’, and ‘Godfather’ vibes coming to Netflix, late in 2019!
